I don’t know about you, but I love the stories that go with the creation of classic songs. We’re so lucky that not one, but two music and recording periodicals regularly run these stories. More than that, they then post those stories on their websites for all of us to read.
The two magazines, of course, are Sound on Sound and Mix.Both have for years run “Classic Tracks” articles interviewing the musicians, engineers and producers involved in creating music that touched a generation and influenced whole genres. Sound on Sound also runs a regular article called “Secrets of the Mix Engineers” that performs a similar service for contemporary hits, but with screenshots of all the plug-ins.
What I’ve done is created a link farm for all of these articles. My intention is to update this page periodically with the articles posted on these websites. If you know of any other source of this sort of thing, please let me know in the comments and I’ll add them. So, if this is the sort of thing you love, then when you come back up for air, I will apologize. Until then, enjoy:
